A very short photo report of the process of building my stop-motion character.
I started by making a full scale drawing of the puppet, on which I based my armature. I made a aluminium wire armature (armature is the skeleton of a stop-motion puppet) and glued this into a piece of upholstery foam which I had cut into the (very) rough shape of the puppet. When the was dry I continued shaping the upholstery foam until I was happy with it.
This is the armature with the foam for the body glued on and most of it already cut into shape.
Next I covered the upholstery foam with liquid latex to create a smoother skin.
I then painted it and shaped the head out of plasticine (a modelling clay often used in animation to make stop-motion animations).
